Preschool Foundations

Practice early literacy, number sense, fine-motor skills, and creative thinking through play.

Learning through this stage

Preschoolers are ready to tell stories, notice patterns, ask questions, and build ideas together. Activities work best when children can make choices and explain what they notice.

  • Storytelling and sounds
  • Counting and patterns
  • Hand strength and coordination
  • Creative problem solving

Try together

Playful activity ideas

Story detective

Read a picture book together. Pause to ask what a character might do next, what clues your child sees, and how the story makes them feel.

Snack-time patterns

With an adult handling food safely, arrange a simple repeating pattern using snack pieces or picture cards. Ask your child what might come next.

Draw a path

Invite your child to draw a road, maze, or winding path with crayons, then move a toy along the route and describe where it goes.
